Late summer is the most reflective time of the year. In late summer you look back and relive the summers from years past. This images captures a teen girl reflecting on her summers when she was younger. The magnolia seed pod shows her connection to nature she had when she was a young girl, that has not entirely disappeared. Her tongue licking the pod represents her now; without the innocence she had in summers past. She is reflecting on her innocence in the summers before, and her loss of innocence that came this summer. The soft focus of subject was intentional in order to bring a light and simple feel to the photograph. This image follows the rule of simplicity and the most successful part of the image is the focus.
